Our Story: A Family Tradition of Care

Our story began in 2007, when our family opened its very first preschool in Cranston with a simple vision: to create a warm, welcoming place where children could feel at home while learning, playing, and growing. What began as one location quickly became a passion for providing families with nurturing, dependable childcare and meaningful early learning experiences.

Before opening our first center, Allison spent years caring for children as a devoted nanny, including caring for her sister Kristin’s own children. Combining Allison’s hands-on childcare experience with Kristin’s background in interior design, the sisters worked together to create environments designed especially for children—spaces that encouraged imagination, exploration, creativity, and learning through play.

Lighthouse Opens Its Doors

In 2014, Lighthouse Preschool became the second preschool opened by our family, marking an exciting new chapter in our journey. Inspired by the idea of a lighthouse guiding the way, Lighthouse was created to be a place where children could feel safe, supported, and encouraged as they reached new milestones and discovered the world around them.

Since then, our family has continued to grow from one preschool into six early learning centers serving families throughout our surrounding communities. What has never changed is the family-centered approach that started it all. Our dedicated teachers, directors, and staff work together to create environments where children are genuinely known, cared for, and celebrated.

Learning Through Play, Discovery & Connection

At Lighthouse Preschool, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are encouraged to explore, create, ask questions, and use their imaginations. Our approach combines play-based learning with a strong educational foundation, helping children develop confidence, independence, creativity, social-emotional skills, and a lifelong curiosity about the world around them.

From a baby's first experiences in our infant room to preparing our Pre-K students for kindergarten—and continuing to care for school-age children through before and after school programs and summer camp—we are honored to grow alongside the families who choose Lighthouse.

For nearly two decades, families have trusted our family to care for theirs. We are incredibly proud of how far we have come and even more excited for what lies ahead.
